We give a lot of freedom to our scholarship students to set their own community service and flying schedules. Managing that flexibility and learning to budget their time are important parts of the program. Our first three scholarship awardees are building up their volunteer hours over the winter while they’re still in school so that they can focus on flying come summer. Smart move!
In the midst of their hard work, our HSFS students attended the Great Alaska Aviation Gathering this past weekend (a scholarship requirement, but also a great opportunity to learn more about the aviation community in Alaska and outside). Two HSFS board members, Lukas and Abe, were also there with their respective companies … and repping HSFS on the side. We’ve got some big goals for the coming year, and seeking donor support to see them through!
